And then this Bear, Pooh Bear, Winnie-the-Pooh, F.O.P. (Friend of Piglet's), R.C. (Rabbit's Companion), P.D. (Pole Discoverer), E.C. and T.F. (Eeyore's Comforter and Tail-finder)--in fact, Pooh himself--said something so clever that Christopher Robin could only look at him with mouth open and eyes staring, wondering if this was really the Bear of Very Little Brain whom he had know and loved so long.

"holy cow"

i was speaking tosomeone today who, upon finding out my undergraduate major, reminded me that i ought to be interested in this.

well, i am interested, but i don't have much to say. (actually, i have a lot of not-so-interesting rants about evolution and creationism and whatever, but i try not to talk about it until someone else says something so stupid i can't contain myself...)

nevertheless, the article above suggests the following quiz:

which of the following best describes "Archaeopteryx"?

(a) "the proto-bird Archaeopteryx"... bridged the gap between reptiles (probably dinosaurs) and today's birds.

(b)"We've got Archaeopteryx, an early whale that lived on land"

(hint: both appeared in one article, attributed to different, reputable, scientists, but one is almost certainly a typo by a scientifically-illiterate journalist)

BONUS: I will give a prize to anyone who posts, emails, or snail-mails a drawing of an animal that meets both descriptions.

ciao for now.
